Mutley's New Ride
VT Respray
Hi again folks, for those of you that don't know me, last July I
sold my GL1200 Goldwing because I wanted a cruiser. In August
I came across a 1988 Honda VT1100C Shadow, an American
import. The bloke I bought it from was a lazy sod who sprayed
everything that had a reflection with silver frost so that he
wouldn't have to polish.

I am convinced that he thought General Maintenance was
someone in the Army, & to make things worse the mongrel lied to
get the sale..

Anyway, after many months of rubbing back the chrome work
with heaps of thinners then an unknown amount of polish I have
managed to get the majority of it looking respectable again.
I won't even start on the electrics & engine work that was
required to get her running properly. Whilst standing back looking
at it I finally got jack of seeing a bog patch on the top of the tank
& decided that a respray was in order.

I only have 1 pic of prior to all the work but it gives you a basic
idea of the mess I started with but have quite a few pics of the
aftermath, let me know what you think.

Tell Me What You Think
Dirty big bog patches were required
to get the tank back into shape.
Looking sorry for herself, doesn't
look right when stripped.
Pic from Right front. Changed
Headlight to Half Moon running HID

Paint is Deep Dark Blue with Light
Sky Blue spikes.
The deep Blue turned out more like
Purple which looks pretty good
surprisingly.
You can really see the headlight
which is an unusual shape. The
dragpipes also being added recently.
Notice the lack of rear indicators? I
found a Number Plate surround with
Indicator insert, looks real neat I
reckon..
